Dr. Gatut Susanto , MM, M.Pd

Dr. Gatut Susanto is a senior lecturer at the Department of Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Letters, Universitas Negeri Malang. He has rich experience in teaching and organizing Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) program for more than 25 years. His interest in teaching BIPA begins in 1992. Since then, he teaches hundreds of international students from many different countries in Indonesia and overseas. From 2010 to present, he is managing the BIPA Program at BIPA Universitas Negeri Malang. He teaches many subjects of BIPA, such as Introduction of BIPA, Cross-Cultural Understanding, Material Development, and Teaching Strategy for Indonesian students at UM. He has developed the Indonesian Proficiency Test for Non-Native Speakers called UKBIPA. He also provides service as a BIPA consultant for some universities in Indonesia and abroad.

Prof. Dr. Djoko Saryono , M.Pd

Prof. Dr. Djoko Saryono, M.Pd is a distinguished and highly respected Guru Besar (Professor) in the field of Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (Indonesian Language and Literature Education) at the Fakultas Sastra (Faculty of Literature) of Universitas Negeri Malang. With expertise in Pendidikan Sastra (Literature Education), Literasi (Literacy), and Kajian Transdisiplinaritas (Transdisciplinary Studies), Prof. Dr. Djoko Saryono brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the field. As a prominent member of the faculty, his contributions to education have made a lasting impact on students and scholars alike.

Nissa Rahma Nur Aprilia

Nissa Aprilia is an Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages instructor in BIPA UM since 2011. She got her first Master’s in English Language Teaching from UM and the second one in Asian Studies from Ohio University where she also became the Teaching Assistant for Indonesian Language. Aside from her involvement in several programs in BIPA UM (CLS, IFLI, AMINEF, and other private courses), she was also appointed as one of the BIPA instructors to be sent abroad by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. During her assignment in France, she taught Indonesian language and culture in Aix-Marseille Université, Université Nice Sophia Antipolis, and the Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia in Marseille. For her second assignment, she was posted in UK where she promoted Indonesian language and culture in Whitefield School, Kew Royal Botanic Gardens, and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in London.

Mohammad Hudha Nursyairofi

Mohammad Hudha Nursyairofi has joined BIPA UM since 2011. He graduated with Master’s degree in Language Education from UM. He was language partner in many programs such as In-Country, AMINEF, and CLS. He also has taught Indonesian in other programs such as KNB, Darmasiswa, IOP, and Study Aboard Program. Since 2014, he works as administration staff at BIPA UM.

Vania Maherani

Vania Maherani was born and raised in Malang. She taught Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages since 2010. She has plenty of experiences in teaching students from the U.S, Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, Ukrain, China, and many others. She has also previously worked as the language editor in Jawa Pos. Appointed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, she taught Indonesian in Thailand for four months. In 2020, she represents BIPA UM to observe the teaching of Indonesian language in University of Wisconsin, Madison. Besides, she teaches Indonesian online summer class at SEASSI 2020 and joins workshop on teaching and developing material for Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages.

Alfian Roesman was born and raised in Malang, East Java, Indonesia. He graduated from UM with Art degree in 2014. His involvement in BIPA UM started from being peer-tutor in CLS program (2012-2015) to being excursion coordinator (2016-2019). Now he works as creative and motion designer.

Aditya dwi aria

Aditya Dwi Aria’s journey in the world of BIPA started in 2016 when he became peer-tutor in In-Country Program and eventually continue to other programs, such as CLS, IFLI, IOP, and Immersion Program. He got his Bachelor degree in Indonesian Language and Literature Education from UM. His passion in photography leads him to be documentation team for all on-going programs in BIPA UM.

Nanang Syaiful Rohman earned his Bachelor in Indonesian Language and Literature from UM and his Master’s in Literature from Universitas Gadjah Mada. He has been teaching for eight years, especially teaching Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages in CLS (2012-2018), KNB (2016), In-Country (2018), IFLI (2018), and IOP (2016 & 2020) programs. Appointed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, he also taught Indonesian in Indonesian Cultural Center, Cairo, Egypt in 2017. In 2019, he went to Tunisia to teach Indonesian in Sousse University.

niken pranandari

Niken Pranandari earned her Bachelor’s (UM) and Master’s degree (UNISMA) in Indonesian Language Education. She has been a teacher for Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages teacher since 2011. She has taught many programs from different countries in the world. In 2016 to 2018, she was appointed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture to teach Indonesian in Thailand and Timor Leste. She is happy to be able to teach BIPA to all people around the world.

Hany Noviya is currently doing her Master’s degree in English Language Teaching at UM, focusing on developing storybooks for young learners. She has experiences in teaching Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages for over four consecutive years in some programs like KNB, Darmasiswa, CLS, Study Abroad for Kasesart University, and IOP programs. She loves teaching and getting great sense of achievement by seeing her students develop their ability to use bahasa Indonesia.

Imam Mashuri graduated from the University of Malang with double degrees in English Linguistics and Language Teaching. He started his career in BIPA UM as a peer tutor for the CLS program (2012-2014). Since 2015, he has been teaching Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages for Critical Language Scholarship program, Indonesian Flagship Language Initiative program, KNB, ISS, and other programs held by BIPA UM. In 2020, he was appointed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture to teach Indonesian online classes at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, New Delhi, India. During the summer of 2023 (June-August) he taught American students at Wisconsin University of Madison, USA for SEASSI (Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute) program.

Jamiatul Asyah

Jamiatul Asyah is currently a Master’s student majoring in Indonesian Language Education at UM. Her first experience in BIPA was being peer-tutor for In-Country Program (2016-2017). In 2017 and 2018, she also became peer-tutor for CLS and IFLI program. For her internship, she taught Indonesian in Walailak University, Thailand. Afterwards, she becomes one of the instructors to teach Indonesian for Kasetsart program and CLS in 2019.

Satrio Adi graduated from UM with a Bachelor’s degree in in Indonesian Language and Literature Educations. His involvement in BIPA UM started as being peer-tutor in 2016 for In-Country, CLS, and IFLI program. He loves to talk about sports, politics, or cultural diversity in Indonesia. His passion in photography made him join the documentation team in 2019 for CLS and IFLI program. He also teaches Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages in BIPA UM Free Online Conversation Class.

Z.G. Bela Puspita

Zephaniah Gavrila Bela Puspita is a Master’s student majoring in Indonesian Language Education in UM. She first became peer-tutor for In-Country program (2016-2017) as well as for CLS and IFLI program (2017–2018). In 2017, she had her internship program in Walailak University, Thailand, where she taught Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages. Since 2019, she has been teaching for other programs, such as In-Country and CLS program.

Mustika Nur Amalia

Mustika Nur Amalia has been teaching Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages since 2014 in many different levels from novice to advanced level. She has been dealing with the foreign students from many different backgrounds in the world. She has taught foreign students in many programs such as CLS, IFLI, KNB, Dharmasiswa, In-country, and Guangxi Normal University exchange program. In 2016, she taught Indonesian as a Foreign Language in Udonthani Vocational College, Thailand under the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesian.
